Known for his playful works that investigate everyday life, consumer culture, and the language of minimalism, Gabriel Kuri has developed a vocabulary of his own that engages meaning through wit. Untitled (Fridge) is paradigmatic of this singular style, where the artist hangs clothes in garment bags inside a functioning glass-fronted refrigerator, as if temporarily freezing an identity, a personality, or a routine. The relationship between preservation and display articulates a momentary pause in consumption.
