Jose Dávila’s multidisciplinary practice plays with visual and material contradictions that permit the coexistence of frailty and strength, rest and tension, geometric order and random chaos. Located somewhere between homage, imitation and critique, Dávila studies milestones in modern and contemporary art and reflects upon the legacy of major art movements. By approaching the vital contradictions between form and function, the artist reflects on the definition of conceptual art that states that it is content rather than form which gives importance and meaning to a work of art.
