Works by Vik Muniz are immediately recognizable for his use of unconventional materials such as jam, tomato sauce, dust or ink, that he shapes to copy the appearance of famous works of art. In this piece, Muniz recreates one of Andy Warhol’s most sinister pictures using only black ink, commenting on the artist’s use of the print media as source, since the original image for Race Riot was a photograph taken from Life Magazine.
