This project springs from the interest to contribute to a qualitative, and experience-based revision of art learning practices in the Mexican context. The sessions are open scenarios that bring together experienced professionals and people from different educational fields to work together on topics such as: appropriation, exchange, self-organization, learning as practice and experience, non-formal educational approach, the construction of environments for learning, strategies for the multiplication of knowledge, problematizing the possibility of teaching art, among others.

With Sebastián Romo, Rita Ponce de León, Felipe Zúñiga

Rita Ponce de León (Lima, 1982). In her artistic practice, Ponce de León has approached practices such as Butoh dance (of Japanese origin) and she has worked in workshops that approach body and movement as triggers of knowledge. These processes decant in her drawings. Her work has been exhibited at the 32nd São Paulo Biennial; Miró Foundation, Barcelona; Kunsthalle Basel; Biennial of Cuenca (Ecuador); Sala de Arte Público Siqueiros, Mexico City; Gallery 80M2, Lima; Museo de Arte Moderno, Mexico City; New Museum, New York; and Centro Cultural Border, Mexico City, among others. Her images have been published in the book Vitamin D2-New Perspectives in Drawing (Phaidon, 2013). In 2016 she received the support of Fundación Jumex for a residence at the Kazuo Ohno Dance Studio in Yokohama, Japan. Currently she collaborates in various projects with Joelle Gruenberg (choreographer and somatic educator), Tania Solomonoff (body artist), Andrés Villalobos (visual artist) and Pablo Pérez Palacios (architect). She lives in Mexico City.

Sebastián Romo (Mexico City, 1973). He has made commissions for public space and individual museum exhibitions in Mexico, Brazil, the United States and Europe. His work has been exhibited in more than one hundred shows and projects around the world. He has been awarded in the categories of sculpture and installation. Romo has three monographic titles highlighting De las órdenes invisibles, awarded as the best art book in 2011. Since 2009, he has run the Atelier Romo, a multidisciplinary educational platform. He is currently a member of the Sistema Nacional de Creadores del Arte.

Felipe Zúñiga (Mexico City, 1978). He graduated from the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas (UNAM), and he has masters studies in visual arts with specialization in public art, video and performance at the University of California San Diego. He has worked in cultural management, curatorship and education. From 2006 to 2009 he coordinated the Lui Velázquez residency program in Tijuana. He coordinated educational services for El Cubo in the Centro Cultural Tijuana in 2009. He was educational curator of the Taller Público in Casa Vecina from 2011 to 2013. He is a member of the Plataforma Arte-Educación (PAE), with whom he has developed the projects “Laboratorio de Mediación” (Casa del Lago, 2012), and “Radiales: situaciones experimentales de escucha” (Casa Vecina, 2014).
