As part of the Instituto de la Telenovela, Pablo Helguera will deliver his lecture/performance Theatrum Anatomicum (or, how to Dissect a Melodrama), where accompanied by a professional actress, he will engage in a seemingly absurd dialogue (in reality, two lectures on disparate subjects delivered simultaneously) juxtaposing the history and socio-cultural significance of the telenovela with an analysis of the Dutch anatomical theater of the 16th century as an early form of contemporary spectacle.
