ALIA FARID: SIN PERFUMES NO HAY PARAÍSO
For her first exhibition in Mexico, Kuwaiti-Puerto Rican artist Alia Farid explores transnational ties through sculpture and film and by expanding on her long-term research on Arab and South Asian migration to Latin America and the Caribbean. The exhibition is centered on a new video installation that explores the presence of Arab communities and imagery in Mexico. From Beirut to Guadalajara and Quintana Roo, the exhibition looks at how the atmosphere of one geography is preserved inside another. An accompanying exhibition of rare books and printed matter culled from various official and unofficial archives will be installed at Gallery -1 of Museo Jumex.

Exhibition organized by Museo Jumex.

Curated by Rosela del Bosque, Associate Curator; and Adriana Flores, Curatorial Assistant of Museo Jumex.
