Fundación Jumex Arte Contemporáneo was formally established on March 3, 2001 when Colección Jumex was exhibited for the first time at the Galería Jumex in Ecatepec.

Through its exhibitions and public programs, Museo Jumex aspire to become a relevant institution in the field of art. This is achieved through the production (and co-production with other institutions) of exhibitions and research projects that bring contemporary art practices closer to diverse audiences.

Fundación Jumex Arte Contemporáneo’s Grants & Scholarships program provides funding to individuals and institutions involved in contemporary art production, promotion and research.

The foundation’s library is one of the most extensive libraries in Mexico devoted to the research and study of modern and contemporary art.

In his installations, Petrit Halilaj continually uses objects that come from nature such as branches, stuffed animals or rocks. It also uses man-made objects such as furniture, documents, or sculptures that when related to natural objects, produce new meanings and tell stories. Have you ever wondered if the objects you have are capable of telling your story? We propose the following:

Materials:

Your cupboard
The objects you find inside it
A notebook and a pencil

Steps:

Step One

Look carefully at all the items you find inside the cupboard.

Step Two

Record what you find, imagining that you do not know the name of the objects. For example, instead of writing “jar of olives”, you could write “transparent container with small green balls”. This recolection of data can be done as a list or as a drawing.

Step Three

Imagine that you are an explorer of the future and try to describe what each object is for.
