Site Cube #4, 2011

Perforated metal sheet, casters, white candles, electric lighting, vases

100 x 100 x 120 cm

Haegue Yang’s abstract and conceptual installations make use of everyday materials like clothing racks, blinds, bells, lighting fixtures and lamps, to produce a sensorial impression on the viewer. Her series of Site Cubes are made of perforated metal cube structures over wheels that reveal in their interior a shrine–like ensemble of white candles and glass vases illuminated by light bulbs. The cable that provides electricity extends outward, reconnecting the unearthly sculpture to the physical world.
