The permanent revolution, an ideological screwball comedy was an original play by Mexican artist Pedro Reyes, commissioned by Fundación Jumex Arte Contemporáneo. This new project is part of Baby Marx (a series that Reyes has been working on since 2008), that explores the contradictions and tensions between socialism and capitalism—two ideologies that still permeate contemporary culture— with marionettes of key characters such as Leon Trotsky, David Alfaro Siqueiros, Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, Vladimir Lenin, Ernesto “Che” Guevara, Karl Marx, Adam Smith, Milton Friedman, Steve Jobs and Julian Assange.
This bilingual book includes texts by Pedro Reyes, Rubén Gallo, Claudio Lomnitz and Chus Martínez, the original script, and photographs of set and the marionettes.
