In conversation: Emiliano Valdés, Rodrigo Hernández and Marielsa Castro Vizcarra

On the occasion of the opening of Rodrigo Hernández: El espejo [The Mirror] at Museo Jumex, the artist will talk about his practice and the development of the exhibition with Emiliano Valdés and Marielsa Castro Vizcarra, curators of the exhibition at the Museo de Arte Moderno de Medellín and Museo Jumex.

Hernández creates unexpected connections that stem from experiences he has with objects or images that belong to diverse fields such as art, literature, science, fashion, and design. The exhibition creates a point at which two parallel stories meet, that of designer and architect Verner Panton (Denmark, 1926 – 1998) and the artist Antonio Grass (Colombia, 1937). Hernández revisits the seemingly confluence of the interests of both characters in an installation that mixes traditional techniques such as drawing, painting and sculpture to cover the walls with an immersive mural and objects of papier-mâché, that are located somewhere between abstraction and figuration.

El espejo is organized by the Museo de Arte Moderno de Medellín and the Museo Jumex.
