Lara’s film sees a group of young people encountering the works in a fictional exhibition. Filmed in the style of an existential movie from the 1960s, the Italian voiceover discusses the nature of art, what it is and what it can be. The works in the gallery were created by the artist for the film as hypothetical pieces, later becoming sculptures, installations and paintings in their own right. Lara’s practice explores how objects are created and transformed into art through context and narratives, and this work blurs the lines between irony and seriousness, and between the film as a work itself, or a commentary and document of art and its encounters with the public.
