Ruby is a sculptural composition made from brightly colored plastic containers in the shape of wine glasses. The Brazilian artist based in England, Alexandre da Cunha, appropriates and recontextualizes everyday objects, highlighting certain visual aspects, but maintaining their original resemblance. His practice consists of making careful observations of the objects that surround us and highlighting the shapes that characterize them, enhancing the relationship between industrial and artisanal production. By using scales and materials that suggest the opposite of their apparent materiality, the artist plays with the viewer’s perception and reminds him that transformation is possible with subtle changes.
