Koester’s film explores relationships between the mind, body and spirit through the experimental theater of Jerzy Grotowski, a major precursor of contemporary performance art. Based on the director’s system of spatial movements and exercises combining performance, anthropology and ritual developed in the seventies, actor Jaime Soriano is filmed executing one of Grotowski´s psycho-physical exercises on the terrace of modernist Mexican architect Luis Barragan’s house. By creating a channel between two contemporaries from Mexican cultural history, who never actually met, Koester presents an alternative speculative encounter between people, places and ideas.
