Ana Gallardo developed this project at Casa Xochiquetzal, a residence for senior women who used to be sex workers. Here, Gallardo blows up the scale the women’s image so they become part of the viewers’ personal space, bringing us closer to them. Her work, which often involves her emotionally with her collaborators during long periods of time, invites us to reflect on the conditions of precariousness and marginality which are part of women’s lives. According to the artist, “affective relationships, encounters with others, the appropriation of life histories, of feelings, doubts, certain mysteries, failures, disagreements, those are my prime materials".
